WASHINGTON — On Monday, the U.S. Department of Education's Student Privacy Policy Office (SPPO) initiated an enforcement action against Fairfax County Public Schools under the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) following the claims that a school employee was helping students get abortions without notifying parents.

We told you about this story a month ago, when Governor Glenn Youngkin called on the Virginia State Police to conduct a full criminal investigation into this school employee's actions.

PPRA is a federal privacy law enforced by SPPO that affords parents of students certain rights, including the right to receive notice and the opportunity to opt a student out of any non-emergency, invasive physical examination.
