It's been one day since Mayor Eric Adams dropped his reelection bid .

The news came on Sunday afternoon after weeks of speculation that he was bowing out of the race with low poll numbers .

In the wake of the news, the mayor stayed out of the spotlight with no public events.

Adams did show himself helping a fellow New Yorker in need in Harlem.

The mayor's moment was reminiscent of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is known for showing himself helping stranded drivers during blizzards.

Meanwhile, Adams' decision to quit the race was met by some at City Hall with sadness. While others were bittersweet to see the mayor not fighting until the end.
