Carson Kittsley knew what it was like to have a lead after the first round of the WPIAL Class 3A individual golf championship.

He also knew what it was like to watch that title slip through his hands because of one bad hole.

“I just kept practicing like I did leading up to this and I just treated it like any other tournament,” Kinsley said. “It kind of took some of that pressure off, which was extremely helpful.”

Kittsley strung together birdies on each of the first three holes of the back nine and finished with a 2-under 68 on the day at Butler Country Club and an 8-under 134 for the two-day 36-hole tournament as he won his first WPIAL Class 3A title. The Fox Chapel junior, who shot a 6-under 66 last week in the opening round at Willowbrook, edged out runner-up Jack Sacriponte of Latro
