GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — "Evil. This was an evil act of violence."

That's how Grand Blanc Township's police chief described what officials now believe to have been a targeted act of violence, after a gunman reportedly rammed into the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, opened fire and burned it to the ground.

"All indications on this investigation are the suspect used an accelerant of some sort, we believe gasoline, and lit the church on fire," ATF Detroit Field Division Special Agent in Charge James Deir had said Sunday night.

The scene left four people dead, plus the suspect, and at least eight more injured.
