BAR HARBOR, Maine — People are raising concerns over what a looming government shutdown could mean for operations at Acadia National Park .
If legislators in Washington can't reach an agreement, the federal government will shut down as of 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.
In previous shutdowns, national parks have remained open but with limited staffing.
"We know what it's like,” said Sheridan Steele, the former superintendent for Acadia National Park .
Steele served for 12 years as superintendent of the park and has seen firsthand the impacts of a government shutdown on the park.
“There will be people in the park whether it's barricaded or not because you can't barricade all the islands,” Steele said.
