At the September 9th Hamblen County Board of Education meeting, Supervisor of Special Services Mandy Lloyd discussed a new program involving high school students through Walters State Community College on construction of a “tiny home” from start to finish.

“In February or March of last year, Walters State approached us to see if Hamblen County would be willing to participate in a grant opportunity they wanted to write for an inclusion camp,” Lloyd said.

Several other surrounding systems wanted to participate as well, according to Lloyd, but Hamblen County was given the opportunity first.
