DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - As lawmakers in Washington face a potential government shutdown in just over 24 hours, many fear the consequences.
The top concern for experts is the federal workers who won’t have a job during the shutdown.
Tim Hagle, political science professor at The University of Iowa says there are various impacts that come with this.
“More often what happens, is just a delay, now that delay could be serious,” Hagle said. “I mean if you’re a person, especially a federal worker, if you’re living paycheck to paycheck and you don’t get that paycheck, that could be problematic.”
But, many federal services that people rely on will continue as normal.
“Social security checks are going to continue. You can still go to your doctor if you’re on Medicare,” Hagle said.
