WILLIAMS COUNTY, N.D. (KMOT) – A fire destroyed several tanks at an oil site northwest of Tioga on Monday, and the fire was still burning as of early Monday evening.

Tioga Rural Fire Chief Jim McGinnity said they received the call around 11:35 a.m. of a fire at the site near 76th Street and 104th Avenue NW.

He said the site is operated by Chord Energy.

McGinnity said the covers blew off several crude oil storage tanks on site, though the cause of the blast and fire is unclear.

The fire chief said Chord elected to let the fire burn out.

McGinnity said the site has 25 total tanks, and roughly half of them may be destroyed.

No injuries were reported, according to the chief. The site is currently shut down.
