A string of campaign mailers and digital ads that seem to mislead voters about a Pennsylvania judicial retention election has sparked pushback from Democrats.

The mailers and ads are being distributed by the Commonwealth Leaders Fund, which has ties to Pennsylvania billionaire conservative Jeffrey Yass. The Philadelphia Inquirer first reported on the GOP-affiliated PAC’s ties with the mailers and ads on Monday.

The message in the materials focuses on the state Supreme Court judicial retention election, which features a slate of three Democratic justices up for retention for another 10-year term.

Republicans see the election as an opportunity to challenge the court’s 5-2 Democratic majority.
