TOLEDO, Ohio — Wayne Kinsel, the Toledo brewery owner who entered the race for Ohio’s 9th Congressional District earlier this year, announced Monday he is withdrawing from the contest.
In a statement released September 29, Kinsel said the decision was not made lightly.
“My time on the campaign trail has been profoundly humbling, and I am immensely grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement I have received from the community across the district,” Kinsel wrote.
Kinsel, co-owner of Voodoo Brewing Company, launched his congressional campaign with a pledge to bring his business experience to Washington. His entry added to a growing Republican field aiming to unseat longtime Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who has held the seat since 1983.
