SOLON, Ohio -- Solon Fire Rescue will welcome residents to its annual open house Oct. 9, offering families an inside look at the department and a night of hands-on fun.

The free event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fire Station 2, 6320 SOM Center Road. Parking will be available at Solon City Hall or Park Place.

Lt. Joe Eisenhuth, who has coordinated the event for many years, said the open house provides a chance for residents and firefighters to connect outside of emergency situations.

“We interact with our residents in all types of different ways throughout the year,” he said.

“The open house, however, provides a unique opportunity to interact with our residents as friends and neighbors in a fun and educational way.
