WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - A meeting between congressional leaders and President Donald Trump appeared to yield little progress in averting a looming government shutdown on Monday.

Roughly a day before the federal government is set to run out of money, Democratic and Republican leaders emerged from the meeting without a funding deal and continued to engage in finger-pointing.

“I think we’re headed to a shutdown because the Democrats won’t do the right thing,” said Vice President JD Vance, outside the White House after the meeting.

For weeks, congressional leaders have been stuck at an impasse over how to fund the government. Republicans have been pushing for an extension of government funding at current levels until Nov. 21 while Democrats want an extension of healthcare subsidies as part o
