CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. ( FOX Carolina /Gray News) - Authorities in South Carolina are investigating a deadly accident involving a man who fell into a farm pond while fishing.
The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office said 34-year-old Leron Lee Williams was boating with his 6-year-old son in a pond off Jones Street in Blacksburg around 6 p.m. when the incident occurred.
Williams was not wearing a life preserver, the coroner said.
The coroner said that according to the child, the boy and his father were attempting to change seats in the boat when Williams fell out and did not resurface. The boy jumped out of the boat and swam to shore to ask for help.
