SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Home builders are seeing impacts on costs because of tariffs. Costs have gone up for materials like lumber, steel, and glass, and President Trump has announced new tariffs starting Wednesday.

Starting Oct. 1, there will be a 50 percent tariff on kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities and a 30 percent tariff on imported upholstered furniture. Experts say that cost will eventually fall on buyers in the Bay Area.

The cost of building a home isn’t cheap in the Bay Area and the founder of Prepair in San Francisco, Sharon Clark, works with sellers on updating their homes that are for sale.
