SARATOGA SPRINGS — On the eve of a potential government shutdown, U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko said ensuring Americans have continued access to affordable health care after Jan. 1 is a priority for Democrats.

Unless funding legislation is agreed upon by Republicans and Democrats and signed by Donald Trump by late Tuesday night, the resulting shutdown will essentially force the closure of many government offices, halt services and cause the furlough of some federal employees.
