WACO, Texas — After nearly ten years at the helm of Baylor's School of Social Work, Dr. Jon Singletary is stepping down as dean. According to university officials, his last day will be Oct. 15.
Provost Nancy Brickhouse said Singletary is transitioning back to the faculty to focus on interdisciplinary research.
The decision also comes after a time of controversy. In July, Baylor voluntarily rescinded a research grant tied to LGBTQ+ inclusion in churches. While the university has not confirmed any direct connection, the decision drew backlash from some in the Baylor community.
