DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Des Moines Public School Board has placed Dr. Ian Roberts on unpaid administrative leave pending an investigation into his immigration status.

ICE detained Roberts on Friday, and he is currently being held in a northwest Iowa jail.

Des Moines School Board members say Ian Roberts is unable to remain employed by the district since the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners revoked his administrator license earlier Monday.

“Today at 2:15 pm, we received a document from the Department of Homeland Services notifying us that Dr Roberts is an unauthorized worker in this country,” said Board President Jackie Norris.
