WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A community is coming together to raise funds and show support for an Evergy lineman who was nearly killed last week, electrically shocked and severely injured on the job.

In a statement to 12 News, Evergy said it is investigating the incident in which Brandon Kauffman, a journeyman lineman in the Wichita area, was injured on Sept. 22 while working with a crew to repair an outage near Kingman.

A week after suffering the violent shock, Kauffman remains in critical condition at a Wichita hospital. Evergy also said that it is providing support to Kauffman’s family and, out of respect for their privacy, isn’t sharing further details about his condition at this time.
