TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Trenton police are looking for the driver who struck a man on his scooter and dragged him underneath the car before leaving the scene on Sunday morning.

Family members said the victim is 32-year-old Nathaniel Turner, and he remains in critical condition.

"It's a shame. It's pitiful. I'm hurt," said his mother, Marilyn Turner.

Marilyn and her family have been at her son's bedside in the hospital since Sunday, where he is intubated with a head injury and broken ribs and leg.

They said he was supposed to start his new job on Monday and recently bought the scooter to go to work.

"Thank God Nate woke up today. He opened his eyes. So, that made me feel a little bit better," said his aunt, Brenda Henry. "He had a lot going for himself."
