US President Donald Trump said Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir backed his Gaza peace proposal “100 per cent,” stressing that Islamabad’s leadership was “with us from the beginning” of the negotiations. The remarks come at a time when Pakistan is seen cosying up to the US through renewed diplomatic engagement.

“The prime minister and the field marshal of Pakistan, they were with us right from the beginning, incredible,” Trump told reporters at the White House during a joint press conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “They just put out a statement that they fully believe in this pact. It just came out as I was walking out... They back this 100%.”
