MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education voted Monday night to increase the stipend paid for its board members.

According to a summary of the board’s meeting, the board voted to increase the stipend to $15,000 per year and give members more compensation for attending retreats.

Monday night’s vote also raises the pay of the board president by $1,200 each year.

The board vice president, instruction workgroup and operations workgroup chairs will also receive $600 more annually.

While the board approved to raise its stipend, it unanimously voted against a motion to make board members eligible for healthcare benefits. That would’ve included health, dental and vision
