It's official. The Tasmania Devils have signed their first-ever player, and he's one of our own.

Former Essendon AFL player Jye Menzie has returned to his home state to become Tasmania Football Club's first contracted player.

The North Hobart product played 47 games while at The Hangar after being taken in the 2022 mid-season draft while playing at South Adelaide in the SANFL.

The mid-forward kicked 36 goals across three and a half seasons.

Earlier, Tasmania Football Club's head of list management and strategy Todd Patterson said he expected the club to announce its first player this week after receiving "some pretty positive news over the weekend".
