Lucy Letby is serving 15 whole life terms after being convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven more.

To Dr Dewi Evans, the prosecution's expert witness in the case, she is 'evil'. Letby's crimes were committed at the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital , where she worked, between June 2015 and June 2016.

Jurors heard evidence during two trials in Manchester before Letby was sentenced. Yet her barrister, Mark McDonald, believes that in Letby's case the justice system has 'fundamentally failed'.

Letby's conviction has been closely examined over the last year, the Mirror reports .
