Noemie Fox is on track for a podium finish in the canoe event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Sydney, provided the Australian star can clean up her errors.
Olympic gold medallist in the kayak cross at the 2024 Paris Games, Fox set a blistering time on her home course in Penrith, as the only paddler in the 50-strong field to clock under 101 seconds.
With older sister Jessica, the Olympic champion in the C1, unable to compete following surgery to remove a kidney tumour, Fox crossed the finish line in 100.44 seconds.
That was 1.39 seconds ahead of the top-ranked competitor, Nuria Vilarrubla of Spain.
But two penalties for clipping the second and 11th gates resulted in four seconds being added to her time, with the 28-year-old relegated to seventh ahead of Thursday's semifin
