WEIRTON — Summer vacation was no match for students at Weirton Elementary School, who spent their break on special “summer reading adventures” alongside the school’s therapy dog, Clara.
This year’s program offered a community-wide twist on the traditional summer reading challenge.
Students were given a copy of the book “Flat Stanley,” but with an added element of fun: a cutout of their own “Flat Clara,” inspired by the school’s real-life furry companion. This allowed the youth to document their summer adventures by taking pictures of Flat Clara at different locations, just like the character in the book. The students als
