Ten people have died and many others have been injured following a powerful car bomb explosion outside the paramilitary headquarters in Quetta on Tuesday. The blast was so intense that it was heard from miles away, prompting ambulances to rush to the scene to transport the injured to local hospitals.

According to Muhammad Baloch, the Senior Superintendent of Police for special operations in Quetta, the explosion occurred when an explosive-laden vehicle turned from Model Town onto Hali Road, close to the Frontier Constabulary headquarters. Provincial health minister Bakhat Kakar has indicated that the death toll may increase as more information comes in.

Balochistan has been plagued by violence from various groups, including the banned Baloch Liberation Army, which is pushing for independence. This incident follows a recent surge in violence in the region. On September 3, a suicide bombing at a political rally in Quetta resulted in 11 deaths and over 40 injuries. That explosion took place in a stadium car park where supporters of the Balochistan National Party had gathered.

The Pakistani military has been engaged in a long-standing insurgency in Balochistan, with 782 fatalities reported in 2024 alone. In March, the Baloch Liberation Army attacked a train, killing off-duty soldiers. Since the beginning of the year, more than 430 individuals, primarily security personnel, have lost their lives in various attacks, including six soldiers in Bannu.

This is a developing story, and further details will be provided as they become available.
