Bhubaneswar: The intensity of rain is likely to increase in Odisha on October 2, coinciding with Dusherra, with the possible formation of a low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal and its further intensification into a Depression, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.

“The low-pressure area is likely to form central parts of Bay of Bengal around October 1 and intensify into Depression over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around October 2,” it said. ADVERTISEMENT

The weather agency has issued an orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph for one or two places in the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Kandhamal on October 2.
