MEADOWVIEW, Va. --- In an age when many small churches are struggling to keep the doors open, one local congregation is celebrating its beginning that dates back to the time of the Civil War.

The anniversary theme “Celebrating our Heritage, Inspiring Our Future” resonates among congregation members at Greenfield Baptist Church in Meadowview as they prepare to recognize the historical church’s 160th anniversary on Oct. 5.

As many as 100 to 150 community residents, including former pastors and members, are expected to attend the Sunday celebration that begins with a worship service at 10:45 a.m. followed by a catered meal on the grounds. The public is invited to attend.

Special music during the service will be provided by local gues
