New Delhi: India’s Yogesh Kathuniya won the silver medal in the men’s discus throw F56 category at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi on Tuesday. Kathuniya won the silver medal with his best effort of 42.49m in the final. He finished behind Brazil’s Claudiney Batista, who won the gold medal with a brilliant throw of 45.67m in the final.

Kathuniya started the final with a strong throw of 41.40m and recorded a distance of 42.49m in his second attempt. His next four throws were all above the 41m mark, however, he failed to better his best attempt of 42.49m to settle for silver. While Brazil’s Batista won the gold medal, Greece’s Konstantinos Tzounis finished third with a throw of 39.97m.
