Heavy rain and thunderstorms lashed Delhi and its adjoining regions on Tuesday, with waterlogging reported in many areas of the city, which could potentially dampen the festive spirit across the region. Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa Air have issued travel advisories, asking passengers travelling to and from Delhi to check their flight status in the wake of the sudden rainfall.

The heavy showers, however, brought much-needed relief from the sweltering heat as thousands of revellers flocked to pandals across the city for the ongoing Durga Puja festivities.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert at 11.03 am, predicting scattered showers in some parts of Delhi until 2 pm.
