A California woman is suing Dignity Health, alleging two Catholic hospitals denied emergency abortion care when her water broke at 17 weeks.

The lawsuit claims religious directives were prioritized over patient safety and state law.

“When a pregnant woman’s health is at risk, appropriate emergency care is provided,” said a spokesperson for Dignity Health.
