An alleged Lego thief has run from court after pleading guilty to all but one charge of theft over a haul of stolen toys worth $250,000, allegedly swiped from department stores across Adelaide .

Sohel Ahmed from Adelaide was caught by police after they swooped on a Royal Park property on August 30, uncovering around 2,500 items — including 1700 unopened Lego boxes — in what authorities said is the biggest single seizure under South Australian Police’s crackdown on retail theft.

Ahmed fled from the Port Adelaide courthouse after his appearance on Tuesday, as 7NEWS attempted to ask him questions.

In court, he pleaded guilty to all counts of dishonestly dealing with property, except for one.
