New Delhi: Zoho has been in the spotlight this week with its messaging app Arattai suddenly climbing the charts. Alongside the renewed buzz, questions also began swirling online about where Zoho actually develops its products and where customer data is hosted. A wave of false claims led to a direct clarification from the company’s founder and Chief Scientist, Sridhar Vembu, on September 30.

His remarks came as Arattai surged to the top of Apple’s App Store in India and moved close to the top 100 on Google Play. The app, first launched in 2021, has seen a sudden spike in signups, with government leaders like Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw openly backing Zoho’s products on social media.
