A popular Edinburgh bakery that locals branded 'the best in the city' has announced their sudden closure.

Bakery Andante on Morningside Road, which opened 15 years ago, told residents that their last day would be on September 30. Owner Jon said it's becoming 'increasingly hard' to recruit bakers, which is piled on top of rising financial pressures.

He thanked loyal locals and suppliers for their support over the years. Gutted locals said the bakeries delights will be 'talked about for years to come'.

Posting online, Jon said: "Unfortunately we’ve taken the hard decision that today will be our last day of trading - after 15 years, we’ll be closing the doors of our bakery and shops today.
