ROCHESTER, Minn. – A former Rochester police officer has been sentenced for sex crimes involving a minor.
Timothy Robert Morgenstern, 25 of Rochester, was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, and using a minor in a sexual performance.
Morgenstern was accused of exchanging sexual messages and images on social media with a victim under the age of 18 and having sexual intercourse with that victim.
Court documents state Morgenstern was hired by the Rochester Police Department (RPD) in October 2021 and the crimes happened in May 2022. RPD says it got a report about Morgenstern’s alleged offenses in September 2022 and he was fired in October 2022.
Morgenstern has been ordered to spend 90 days in jail and 10 years on supervised probation.
