NEW ALBANY, Ind. — The Trump administration is ending the federal government's annual report on hunger in America which has collected data and analysis on food insecurity for years.
The decision came two and a half months after President Donald Trump signed legislation that sharply reduced food aid.
The cut back in data and funding over the last few months has left New Albany nonprofit Hope Southern Indiana with an increase in families in need and a decrease in food on the shelves.
"The increase has been going on since about April, and we've hit a couple of times within the last few months where we got really low on food and had to cry out to the community to help fill our shelves," said Hope Southern Indiana Executive Director Becki Romans.
