WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) - A 29-year-old Watertown man is facing charges after striking a woman and threatening her with a hammer.

According to the Watertown Police Department, they arrested Gerald Woodard after a pair of separate incidents at his Franklin Street home.

On Sept. 26, Woodard allegedly struck a woman in the face and grabbed her by the neck, which made it difficult for the victim to breathe.

Two days later, he allegedly raised a hammer and threatened to hit the woman.

Woodard was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, harassment, criminal obstruction of breathing, and unlawful imprisonment.

He was arraigned and ordered held in the Jefferson County Jail.
