Monroe County is currently experiencing a moderate drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s weekly post that was released Thursday, Sept. 25.

Last week’s drought monitor map, released Sept. 19, showed the bottom third of Monroe County as abnormally dry with the top two-thirds in moderate drought. Without rainfall this past week, the whole county, as well as many other counties in Indiana are facing more dry conditions.

The Drought Monitor is updated each Thursday. The latest post shows Brown, Greene and Owen counties in moderate drought, with Morgan and Lawrence counties partially listed as abnormally dry and in moderate drought.
