A looming government shutdown is spurring questions about its impact on Californians as Democrats and Republicans seemingly hold on their respective lines as a new fiscal year rapidly approaches, funding secured or not.
Republicans in the House of Representatives passed earlier September a continuing resolution that would have funded the federal government through late November, but it was unsuccessful in the Senate. Democrats, who’ve also had their version of a government funding extension defeated as well, are focused on reversing various health care funding “in a rare moment of political leverage,” USA TODAY reported .
