NEW YORK — Yankees manager Aaron Boone watched Aroldis Chapman record 111 regular season saves for New York from 2018-22.

He is well-acquainted with the 37-year-old closer’s 16-year career.

“This might be his best season or certainly one of them, and that’s saying something,” Boone said Monday.

Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series between Boston and New York will take place Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:08 p.m.

Chapman’s 3.5 bWAR is the highest of his career, just ahead of his 3.4 bWAR in 2012 when he posted a 1.51 ERA in 71 ⅔ innings for the Reds. His 4.27 Win Probability Average this season is the best of his career by far, much higher than his second-best WPA (2.96 in 2016).
