2025 just keeps on getting better for Learner Tien.

The teenage tennis star is through to his first ATP final at the China Open after overcoming Daniil Medvedev 5-7, 7-5, 4-0, with the 29-year-old forced to retire due to injury.

This was Tien's first tour-level semi-final, and after being down 1-4 and 3-5 in the second set, it felt like he would have to wait to make his debut in an ATP final.

However, Medvedev, who has struggled for consistency all season, gave up far too many errors and moved sluggishly on the court, a development that Tien capitalised on to win the second set.

"I was down 3-5 and 2-4 in the second and clawed my way back," Tien said after the game.
