Facing public criticism over the proposal to impose congestion pricing on Outer Ring Road, Deputy CM and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar clarified that the government is not considering it.
Asked if a congestion tax had been approved for Bengaluru, he said: “It is false. Some industrialists have advised this in the interest of Bangaloreans. It must be a proposal before the Union government. We don’t have any such proposal before us.”

The September 24 meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh had, however, discussed congestion pricing on the Outer Ring Road. However, there was social media outrage over the proposal, as many questioned the logic of
