CHICAGO – While Kyle Tucker spent three-plus weeks on the injured list in September, Cubs rookie Moisés Ballesteros was asked to help carry some of the offensive load. As his confidence grew and the numbers followed, Ballesteros swiftly found himself hitting in the heart of Chicago’s lineup.

Even with Tucker back in the fold, the 21-year-old Ballesteros showed enough to convince the Cubs to keep his bat in the mix against the Padres for the National League Wild Card Series, which begins Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. CT (ABC) at Wrigley Field. Simply put: Ballesteros hit his way onto the roster for the first round of the postseason for the North Siders.
