BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ – Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning following reports of a potential threat, officials said.

UPDATE: At 12:05 pm, the lockdown was ended without incident

An alert was issued around 11 a.m. through the base’s social media channels, instructing all personnel outdoors to take cover. The cause of the lockdown was not immediately confirmed, and officials have not provided a timeline for when restrictions may be lifted.

“THERE IS A LOCKDOWN AT JBMDL. ALL PERSONNEL ARE TO LOCKDOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. ALL PERSONNEL OUTDOORS SHOULD TAKE COVER,” the base posted on its Facebook page.
