A 28-year-old mom in Florida was arrested after her infant son was hospitalized from ingesting cocaine and fentanyl , drugs the suspect claimed had accidentally fallen out of her bag and onto the baby's play mat.
Cheyenne Pope was taken into custody last week and charged with one count of neglect of a child resulting in great bodily harm, court records reviewed by Law&Crime show.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, deputies at about 11:56 p.m. on Sept. 19 responded to a call about suspected child neglect at the University of Florida Health Hospital in the 600 block of West 8th Street. The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) initially notified the sheriff's office regarding an infant at the facility testing positive for narcotics.
