Two died in a fatal head-on crash in Carbon County on U.S. Highway 212 near Joliet Monday evening.
A man driving a Chevrolet Suburban was heading south on Highway 212 when he struck a horse on the roadway, according the Montana Highway Patrol. The collision caused the vehicle to veer over the center line into the northbound lane.
The SUV then collided with a Chevrolet Malibu. The SUV overturned and caught fire and the other vehicle went off the roadway to the right.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The Malibu driver was a 28-year-old woman from Sealy, Texas, not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred, MHP reported. The Suburban driver’s age could not be determined.
Alcohol was suspected in the crash, MHP reported. Road conditions were dry and bare at the time of the
