EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A man from East St. Louis has been charged in connection with a deadly robbery in 2021.

Kaleb Davis, of Cape Girardeau, Illinois, was found shot to death on June 5, 2021, near 14th Street and Division Avenue.

On Tuesday, Illinois State Police announced that Montel Harkins, 26, was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in Davis’ death.

Investigators said that Harkins allegedly tried to rob Davis at gunpoint before the fatal shooting.

At the time of the charges, Harkins was in custody in Oklahoma for an unrelated case.
