There has been much debate over the past week about what to do when it comes to competitive balance within WPIAL football.

And Fox Chapel athletic director Michael O’Brien believes he has come up with a solution, one that he has been peddling to the WPIAL for approximately two years.

His plan is to use a combination of a competitive balance system, geographic location and roster size to radically alter the current conference classification system.

“Our position as athletic directors and coaches is to put kids in the best possible position to have success,” O’Brien said. “We’re still an educational league. This is still part of the classroom.
