A low-pressure area has emerged over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal at 5.30 pm on Tuesday, triggered by a cyclonic circulation over the Eastcentral Bay and its neighbourhood.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this system is expected to move northwestwards, gaining strength rapidly.

By the morning of October 2, it is likely to evolve into a Depression over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal. The intensification could bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding to coastal regions.

The system is projected to cross the south Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts around the morning of October 3, posing risks to fishermen, shipping, and local communities.
