NELSON COUNTY, Ky. — A 28-year-old man is facing drug and reckless driving charges after a 100 mph police chase early Monday morning in Nelson County, Kentucky.

Just past midnight, Nelson County Sheriff Department said a deputy attempted to stop a Pontiac Grand Prix traveling south on New Haven Road near St. Thomas Lane for speeding and driving carelessly.

The driver didn't stop and sped away at speeds reaching 100 mph, according to the department's social media post.

The police pursuit continued south on New Haven Road, across Monks Road and onto New Hope Road. The Pontiac left the roadway at Tollgate Road, damaging property before coming to a stop behind a house.

After a search of the area, the driver, Ryan K. Chesser, was found and taken into police custody.
